Triathlon Training Program

This is a comprehensive month to month individualized training program designed by a mideast multisport coach. Training programs are created based upon the athlete's ability, athletic history and personal goals. Programs are available for short course, long course and ultra endurance athletes. Marathon Training Program
Fee: $100/month + $100 initial consultation fee

This is an individualized training program for beginner, intermediate and advanced runners. Our marathon training program is designed to help you get the most out of your workouts! This program includes:

• customized marathon training and cross-training workouts sent in four week blocks
• periodic fitness assessments to monitor changes in fitness

Ironman Louisville Training Program
Fee: $1000 + $100 initial consultation fee
* Program will run January 1st through August 29th, 2010

This is a comprehensive individualized training program. Athletes will have a training program designed to prepare him or her for the demands of the Ironman Louisville course, and will incorporate course specific workouts. Athletes will also have a chance to preview the race course with Mideast Multisport coaches. Training programs are created based upon the athlete's ability, athletic history and personal goals.

One-time Coaching Consultation
Fee: $100

This is your time to ask questions! Our certified coaches will spend quality time with you over the phone or in person to discuss your training questions/concerns. This is your chance to find out answers to questions that you have always wanted to ask, but never have! Topics to be discussed include, but are not limited to:

• How to set up a year long training program
• Time management for triathletes

Lactate Threshold Testing


Fee: $95 per test

Mideast Multisport now offering Bike and Run lactate threshold testing at a low cost right here in Lexington!  Lactate threshold testing is one of the most common and effective performance markers used by endurance athletes and coaches at all levels.  Lactate Threshold Testing is essential in establishing your training program.  Once your threshold is established, you will be able to implement various training intensities, ultimately helping you achieve your athletic goals!

Each test session lasts about an hour (including set-up time, warm-up, test, and cool down) and will cost $95 per test.  After completing this test, we will set up your heart rate training zones based on the reading of your blood lactate levels.  You will receive your results, your lactate threshold heart rate, plus your training zones (to include power zones if needed on the bike).  Here is an example of what you would receive for your Heart Rate Zones:

The test requires a small needle prick (that is basically painless) in order to obtain a blood sample. We use the Lactate Pro Portable Blood Lactate Analyzer in order to test your blood lactate levels. We will also be using a CompuTrainer ™ in order to ensure proper watts during the bike test and all of this can be done on the comfort of your own bike!  Run test will be conducted on a treadmill.  Tests will be conducted at Swim Bike Run of Kentucky, located at 320 N. Ashland Ave, Lexington, KY 40502. What you will need to bring for the bike test:
• Your bike
• Your biking shoes
• A Heart Rate Monitor (if you have one), otherwise one will be provided
• A water bottle with your choice of drink (usually water is best choice)
• A towel for the test plus a towel to dry off with after the test

• Your running shoes
• A Heart Rate Monitor (if you have one), otherwise one will be provided

Run Gait Analysis
Mideast Multisport is now offering Run Gait Analysis at Swim Bike Run of Kentucky, located at 320 N. Ashland Ave, Lexington, KY 40502.

Fee: $50 (session will last about an hour)

Although running appears to be an easy skill, many athletes suffer from poor running mechanics, which can lead to injuries and poor race performance. The two key components to proper running mechanics are usually broken down into good running economy and efficiency. Efficiency is simply the mechanical power output for a given energy consumption. Poor running mechanics can have a significant impact on your performance and can lead to injury. Having a professional coach examine your gait will be helpful in making small, gradual adjustments to your run gait. This will ultimately increase your run economy and efficiency, producing an increase in performance.

During a Run Gait Analysis session, you will receive:
1. One-on-one gait analysis by a Mideast Multisport Coach
2. Video review of your run mechanics using gait analysis software
3. Drills to help you improve your run mechanics
4. Recommendation of a shoe that will best fit your needs

What you will need to bring:
1. Running shoes that you train and race with (bring both if you use two different shoes)
2. A towel for afterwards
3. Running clothes that are tighter fitting to make the video analysis easier to view (no running tights please)
4. A Flash drive to store your video (or we will have one at the store for you to purchase)

Swim Stroke Analysis
Mideast Multisport is now offering Swim Stroke Analysis at Swim Bike Run of Kentucky, located at 320 N. Ashland Ave, Lexington, KY 40502.

Fee: $50, which includes a video of your stroke analysis

Swim stroke efficiency is the key to success as a triathlete or competitive swimmer. Proper body position and increased power production are key ingredients to improving stroke efficiency. An effective freestyle stroke will help reduce unwanted drag, reduce energy expenditure, and create a cleaner hand and arm entry in the water. Having your stroke technique evaluated by a Mideast Multisport professional coach can be essential in improving stroke efficiency, ultimately improving your swim time in training and in competition. Swim Stroke Analysis sessions will be completed in an endless pool at Swim Bike Run of Kentucky.

What you will get during your 45 minute session:
1. Stroke Evaluation
2. Proper technique instruction
3. Drills to help you improve your technique
4. Video of your current stroke

What you will need to bring:
1. Your swim suit
2. A towel
3. Swim goggles (and a cap if desired)
