This past weekend we have several team members compete in the Memphis in May Triathlon. I have been competing in this race since 2003 and I think yesterday was the hottest it has been at this race!!! The temps were in the mid 90's and the humidity was bad!!! We all knew going into the race that is was going to be hot, but I think realization set in once everyone starting running. We had a great team showing at the event. Mideast Multisport Racing team members who competed included Tony White, Ben White, Sean McNulty, Kevin Ryan, Jeff Buhr, Alan Siebenthaler, Ryan Roche, George VanMeter, Bryan Mullins, Jay Reid, Allison Stewart and Tom Stone. Coach Eric Atnip was at the event supporting our team! He is amazing and helped all of us with bike tech issues and took tons of race photos on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks so much ERIC!!!!! You are the man!
We had great results at the race, with several athletes winning age group awards. Kevin Ryan placed 3rd in his age group, and Allison Stewart and George VanMeter came away as winners of their age groups. Alan Siebenthaler won the Clydesdale division, and Allison and I both placed in the Amateur Challenge, which was a challenge for athletes to compete in a sprint distance race on Saturday and the Olympic distance on Sunday. Athlete Sean McNulty also won an age group award in the sprint triathlon on Saturday. Bryan Mullins competed and finished in his first ever triathlon, and Jay and Ryan finished their first Olympic Distance Triathlon. I big congrats to everyone who competed in the races this weekend, as both days were hot and challenging. We also want to send a big congrats to pro triathlete Tony White for finishing 5th place overall in the professional division at the Memphis in May triathlon. We were all there to cheer Tony to the finish line. The pros did not start until 10:30am, making their day even hotter and more challenging. Tony did amazing out there in horrible conditions. We are so proud of you Tony! Again, congrats to all athletes who competed in the race. We again want to thank our sponsors for support: Swim Bike Run of Kentucky, Scott Bikes, Panera, Fitness Anywhere, Saltstick, ISM Saddles, Aquaman, Kiwami, Road ID and Crank Sports! Next up: Ironman Kansas 70.3 on June 6th, 2010. For full Memphis in May results, please visitt: http://besttimescct.com/results/Mimtri10.txt Until next time... Coach Beth |
